washington

i am at the top of the puget sound,
i will be going out tomorrow to look
for a site. what are the major prerequisites?
does it have to be blm land? is water that flows?
how many sound system things are there?
o

sorry but true, theres lots o considerations

and i'm not one with all the answers, truely.
others could likely offer mo-bettah than this below...but...
i dont know if you'll get all the input you'll like/need b4Ugo...
also, FYI, many will cry (pouty face*sad-not get to come)
cause the 'top of the Puget Sound' is too far north...

i'll try to come up with a bit of a list...
hopefooly others will input too...

*you not "looking for a Fest"
but anony mouse seeking lil spot for you campin later
*free (blm) space for 5-7ish lg camps, + 5-7+ smaller nooks
sound/elbowroom betwixt
*non eco sensitive spot
*parking...ya
*wheelchair acess
*off main road camping
*road durable enuf for multi bus passage
*no neighbors to disturb
*clean h2o source that wont be contaminated by us
*some would beg for a swim hole not too far away
*not rediculous high fire hazard ecosystem
*post your results asap
and ifn a spot looks pretty, good!
another scout crew might be able to look at it.

folks-pleez feel free to add to this or
ifn you deem needed, delete this post.
my intention is empowerment, teamwerk, etc

Re:washington

additionally

* a "nearby" town (something around an hour away) for emergency fuel, water, phone, medicine...
* the "big camps" need to be able to handle buses
* large spaces should, ideally, not be on top of, right next to each other to avoid massive sound bleed (unless its a circle, like a logging turn around so the systems face away from each other)

mabye too far north for this year

Hey,
At our meeting in SF a few months ago we decided to aim to host amf in either oregon or north cali.
so I don't kow if you're in touch with someone from spaz up there or not about all this.
But of course I'm not the finall say..just putting out what the majority of folks had talked about.
We like to think of having it in a different state each year. Personally I
d love it to be in Oregon.
I scouted the spot last year and just don't have time this year to dedicate to it.

what it is

I hear after last year, AMF will never again be held in Washington, Orders of.... The State of Washington. The little birdy that told me this happens to be about the most reliable source.

Why? was there something

Why? was there something especially bad about last year's fest? did we go wrong somehow? was it the fault of the drainbows? ehhhhh

state o' washington

'tis true. we were asked not to come back last year. spaz was the last group to leave and we cleaned that place up as best we could. we didn't even burn the place down or anything! i thought we were all a pretty well-behaved bunch of mutants. ;-) one can only guess their reasons. they sent kay a letter saying we can't come back. in my opinion, we should let the state of washington cool off for a couple years and not tick them off. hasn't it been in washington the past two years, anyways? i know it's up to whoever scouts a good spot, but keep the past in mind. i'll see y'all out in the woods, wherever it is!

I just came back from

I just came back from camping on road 620 and surrounding area..... honestly, there was a surprising amount of jetsam and flotsam in some of the bigger campsites on 620, as well as some little stuff off the path amongst various structures...... hard to tell the source exactly since I didn't make it last year, but there was glass and metal in at least two sites I checked out, including the one I camped at for two nights...... and there were some metal structural supports of some kind stashed here and there....... not trying to put anybody down by saying that, hell it didn't bring me down none, just aiming to increase awareness for the crowd here....... although like I said, I don't know who left those footprints, but altogether it just seemed to me to be quite a bit from last year's fest.......

state of washington

what do you mean 'state of washington'? Isnt it on federal forest service land? or do you mean the local forest service district or their representatives in the state? I would imagine the only ones from the state to know about it would be the washington state patrol, possibly.
